Jala is an adjunct professor of Landscape Architecture at the American University of Beirut, co-founder, and president of the Lebanese Landscape Association.
In her practice, research, and teaching, she explores place and culture responsive design responses that are ecologically sensitive and community-driven. Her areas of expertise include ecological landscape planning, landscape heritage conservation, sustainable urban greening, and post-conflict recovery.
Jala is the recipient of the European Council of Landscape Architecture Schools Lifetime Achievement Award, 2019, for her outstanding contribution to landscape architecture education and practice.
