Ilgın Deniz Can is a botanist, studying for a PhD at Hacettepe University, Ankara. She holds an MSc in botany and a B.Sc.in Biology. Her research focuses on the taxonomy, speciation and phylogeography of wild crucifers in Anatolia and she is one of the authors and illustrators of the Illustrated Flora of Turkey. In addition she joined the British Institute in Ankara (The BIAA) in 2021 as a researcher for the Herbarium Digitisation Project, and after the completion of the project in 2023 she continues to work for the botanical collection of the BIAA on a voluntary basis
