Imagining Futures partners on the project, ‘Archiving 30,000 years of eruptive history to raise volcanic risk awareness in Arequipa, Peru‘, have recently published a small book in comic format linked to their research: Nina and the volcanic dangers in the city of Arequipa.

The cartoon tells the types of eruptions, the dangers related to volcanic activity, and provides a series of recommendations for all those who live near active volcanoes. He also teaches about the geological history of volcanoes and the history of scientific knowledge, integrating historical and cultural elements. It helps the population to know a specific lexicon, a series of scientific terms, which should be familiar, especially if you live in volcanic areas.

La historieta cuenta los tipos de erupciones, los peligros relacionados a la actividad volcánica, y brinda una serie de recomendaciones para todos aquellos que viven cerca de volcanes activos. Asi también enseña sobre la historia geológica de los volcanes y la historia de saberes científicos, integrando elementos históricos y culturales. Ayuda a la población a conocer un léxico específico, una serie de términos científicos, que deberían ser familiares, especialmente si se vive en zonas volcánicas.
